The Corrections Log. Every Error This Site Has Published, and What Was Done About It.
In short. This page records every substantive error the site publishes: the date, what was wrong, the corrected figure or wording, and how it happened. Corrections to the ledger dataset itself are logged here too, because the scoreboard regenerates from the data and a silent data fix would silently rewrite history. Entries are never removed.
The policy. When an error is found, the article or dataset row is corrected with a dated note and an entry is added here. If the error was material to a piece's conclusion, the correction is also flagged at the top of the article. To report an error, use the route on the contact page, naming the claim and the document that contradicts it; reports are acknowledged and the outcome recorded whichever way it goes.

9 October 2026 - JLL, duplicate row removed. JLL's proposal to close its UK
planning division (25 roles at risk across London, Bristol, Manchester, Leeds and
Edinburgh, confirmed 1 October 2026) was logged twice: once on 2 October
(jll-planning-2026-10-01, sourced to Property Week) and again on 8 October
(jll-planning-division-2026-10-06, sourced to a 6 October Estates-Gazette-citing
report). Both carry the identical 25 figure, the same five offices, the same JLL
spokesperson quote and the same two named department heads; the second report adds
no new fact and does not reference the first. This is the same event logged twice
under two event_ids, not two separate announcements. The second row has been
removed; the scoreboard's loss total for October is 25 lower than it read before
this correction. The original row, jll-planning-2026-10-01, stands unchanged.
5 October 2026 - Ardmore Construction Group, grade upgraded from ANNOUNCED to REPORTED. The row published 2 October noted that no specific London Gazette notice URL had been matched with confidence; a notice found during that session turned out to belong to a same-named but distinct "Ardmore Construction Limited" entity with its own unrelated 28 August 2025 administration, and was correctly not applied. The right notice for Ardmore Construction Group Ltd (company number 11890551, case CR-2026-004551, published 17 June 2026) has since been found and fetched directly. This is not a correction of an error; the ANNOUNCED grade was correct at the time, and withholding the upgrade on 4 October rather than citing the wrong company's notice was also correct. The dataset row and the article have both been updated to REPORTED; the 275 redundancy figure is unchanged.
4 October 2026 - Torsion Construction, grade upgraded from ANNOUNCED to REPORTED. The row published 2 October noted that no Gazette notice URL had been found for the 29 July 2026 administration, so it was logged ANNOUNCED on Interpath's own statement and trade press. A London Gazette Appointment of Administrators notice for Torsion Construction Limited (company number 09483417, published 30 July 2026) has since been found and fetched directly, confirming the administration event itself. This is not a correction of an error; the ANNOUNCED grade was correct at the time on the sourcing then available. The dataset row and the article have both been updated to REPORTED; the 115 redundancy figure is unchanged, since it remains sourced to Interpath's statement, not the notice.
30 September 2026 - Reach plc, how the 225 figure was summarised. The piece published 18 September correctly explained in its body that Reach is cutting 220 editorial roles while creating 60, a net 160, plus about 65 commercial roles, a net total of about 225. The one-line summary carried on the homepage card and in the RSS feed said only that Reach was "cutting 220 editorial roles and 65 commercial ones", which sums to 285 and does not reconcile with the 225 in the headline. No figure was wrong, but a reader seeing only the card could not check the arithmetic. The summary now states the 60 created and the net figure, and a dated clarification has been added to the article. The ledger row was 225 net throughout and is unchanged. Found during an external audit of the ledger's fortnight to 30 September, not by this site.
14 September 2026 - University of Dundee, round three redundancy count. The ledger row logged on 16 June 2026 counted a loss of 190, the figure the university gave when it opened collective consultation. The consultation has since concluded: staff were told the outcome on 25 August 2026, and the figure going to redundancy is 154 FTE roles, with 38 new roles created for redeployment. This is not a reporting error being fixed; it is the announced-to-concluded progression this site's grading exists to track, and the original 190 was correctly logged as ANNOUNCED at the time. The dataset row has been updated in place to 154 (rather than added as a second row) because it is the same event, not a new one; adding a second row would have double counted the loss on the scoreboard. The scoreboard total for losses is 36 lower than it would read under the original announced figure.
